Adirondack Central School District is Full STEAM Ahead!!!
The 7th grade STEAM honors class was invited to Bartell Manufacturing in Rome to tour their facility and see how engineers solve problems and collaborate daily. We observed tradesmen and engineers of multiple disciplines build a machine that created tire beads that keep vehicle tires on their rims. Our students were guided through the plant in three groups that were led by engineers familiar with the plant and its workings. Many local residents and some Adirondack graduates are employed at Bartell and gave insight to career opportunities for our future problem solvers.
The STEAM program would like to thank Olivia’s dad, Mr. Mike Gluck for giving us the chance to see the facility at work.
Sphero Global Challenge
The Sphero Global Challenge is a contest the company holds yearly that invites elementary and middle school students from all over the world to compete in 5 robotics challenges. They select the top ten percent to compete and present a final challenge for the top prize. Middle school students at Adirondack Middle school have won first place in this competition the past 2 years. This year we have 3 of the top 54 teams in the world right here in our middle school. Recently, they have presented their final challenge through a prerecorded video and then a live interview presentation with representatives from Sphero. Stay tuned to see how these rock stars fare against the world’s best!
