Adirondack STEAM Teams Shine on the Global Stage at Sphero World Championships
FULL STEAM Ahead for ACS as Three Teams Earn Top Finishes in Season 5!
Adirondack Central School continues to solidify its place as a local leader in STEAM education,
with three student teams earning top honors in the Season 5 Sphero Global Challenge World
Championship. Out of more than 540 teams worldwide, three ACS teams advanced to the
finals, with all placing in the top six — a remarkable achievement that highlights the district’s
commitment to innovation, teamwork, and excellence in science, technology, engineering, arts,
and mathematics.
● ACS RoboCats – Sigma Squad captured an impressive 2nd Place finish.
● ACS RoboCats – Kappa Squad earned a strong 5th Place ranking.
● ADK Aliens! proudly secured 6th Place on the global stage.
These outstanding teams showcased their talents in robotics, coding, engineering design, and
problem-solving as part of the Sphero Global Challenge, a highly competitive international
competition that pushes students to think critically and collaborate creatively.
The ADK Aliens team was made up of Bryn Bala, Miley Hutchins, Makayla Croniser, Ella Ernst,
and Bella Ward. Kappa Squad featured Olivia Kenealey, Mia Weiler, Kim Doty, James O'Brien,
and Liam Pitts. Sigma Squad consisted of Kristina Blake, Cole Palczak, Blake Southwick,
Harper Lee, Abigail Winters, and Sam Doty.
This year’s success continues a proud tradition at Adirondack. In 2023, ACS teams placed 1st
and 5th in the world. In 2024, they returned to the podium with 1st and 4th place finishes. Now,
in 2025, with 2nd, 5th, and 6th place rankings, the district's STEAM program is proving to be
one of the strongest and most consistent in the area.
Adirondack Central School is proud to celebrate this moment with students, families, and the
entire community. With momentum building each year, it’s clear the district is heading FULL STEAM AHEAD!!!
