Adirondack STEAM Program Sends Three Teams to Sphero World Championships
The Adirondack Central School STEAM program is proud to announce that three student teams have qualified for the Sphero World Championships, a global robotics and coding competition that challenges students to apply programming, engineering, and problem-solving skills in real-world scenarios. Each year, close to 500 teams enter the competition, with fewer than 10% qualifying for the World Championships, making this achievement especially noteworthy.
Throughout the competition, teams use Sphero robots to complete a series of missions that test coding ability, precision driving, automation, and strategic thinking. Students program their robots using block coding or JavaScript while also developing solutions that emphasize teamwork, creativity, and innovation.
Representing ACS this year are the following students:
ADK CATS – Miley Hutchins, Olivia Gluck, Ella Ernst, Jayden Smith, Landon Day, and Mitchell Gray
The Goofy Goobers – Levi Boek, Hannah Kosakowski, Blake Salmon, Dalton DeVoe, and Isaac Moore
The 5 Footers – Nevaeh Race, Olivia Gydesen, Reegan Ritter, Zoey Croniser, and Kylie McConnell
This accomplishment continues a strong tradition of success for the ACS STEAM program. Adirondack teams have earned third place in 2022, World Championships in 2023 and 2024, and a second-place finish in 2025.
The teams will now advance to the final stage, where they will complete one additional mission and present their work live to judges via Zoom in early May.
ACS continues FULL STEAM AHEAD.
