CPR/AED Awareness Week!
Here are some CPR and Survival Facts:
- Time is Critical: for every minute that passes without CPR and defibrillation, the chance of survival decreases by 7-10%
- Immediate Impact: performing CPR immediately after a cardiac arrest can double or triple a victim's chance of survival.
- Bystander CPR Works: patients who received bystander CPR are over three times more likely to survive than those whose arrests did not receive CPR.
- AEDs are LIfesavers: when CPR is combined with the use of an AED within the first minute, survival rates can be as high as 90% in ideal circumstances.
- Hands-Only CPR is Effective: for adults and teens, Hands-Only CPR is as effective as conventional CPR for the first few minutes and has been shown to double or triple a victim's chance of survival.
- Brain Damage Risk: brain damage can begin after just five minutes without oxygenated blood flow, highlighting why immediate action is so important.
- Anyone Can Help: learning CPR is a simple yet vital skill. Knowing how to perform it can transform an ordinary bystander into a lifesaver!!!
